national day eve. what a day to celebrate and be joyful. time to shake off your socks, do a hi-jump and start screaming at the top of your voice because...
SCHOOL'S OUT!
yep. this
is the time of the year. where holidays are prolonged, and so is the homework. so i can look forward to lengthy sleep-ins and refusing to finish my homework unless i have hit my daily dose of computer madness. this is so the life i want to live. but of course, everything must come to an end, so yet again, thursday is officially back to school day for everyone - including the teachers.
***END of National Day Message***
you can say that the day started off as a pretty gloomy one and plenty of umbrellas were seen hovering near the traffic junction. traffic was smooth sailling (and a killer too).
anyway, what is up with me reporting about the weather and traffic?!
let's just fast-forward to the time when i was in school, shall we?
so as i was saying, the parade square was slightly damp - cause there was a heavy downpour in the early part of the morning - so, i proceeded to the classroom, which was quite a distance. after huffing and puffing plenty, i finally made it to the peak - what a relief! clutching my bag tightly, as if there was a wad of notes that was worth a million or something, i settled down at the familiar seat, my own seat. duh. so, as you can see, this passage is getting a little draggy and composition-ish, so i am so not going thru the nitty gitty things, and yet again bring forward the more
interesting stuff
we i did.
we got our national day souvenirs - from the school - which consists of a stapler, a box of stapler refills, a bag of paper clips and a hole puncher. the most valuable souvenir we got was this
Today In History book which totally has almost all of our past events compiled in it. all 365 days! so it was some articles that really touched my heart, and it was this student which was Visually Handicapped, and he actually contributed an article in it! and in the same article, an hearing impaired student illustrated the article.
that was something to like, cry about. (in a touched manner, of course.)
so after leafing thru the book, all of us had to contribute in making a banner/poster with all our birthday wishes for Singapore. so mine was 'I wish Singapore was free of terrorism', with a 'X)' at the end.
all in all, we wrapped up the day with a cultural performance, sing-a-along session and a Hillgrove wave. i can tell you, the Malay dance item was the most kick-ass one - honestly speaking. they had a group of
silat members to perform some silat movements and a song to go along with it. the most likeable time in the performance was the song! the song was just so mixed and enchanting. what an experience! gosh. i wish there are more days to come that involve performances of such.
after the performance, which was like, 9.58am, me and wan zhen strolled home but only to experience a heavy drizzle mid-way. so we ran all the way to 7-eleven and spent, erm, (i am not too sure how much her oreos cost) $1.20 for a small sized Big Glup. after our purchase, we strolled-walked home under the shade for our individual folable umbrellas.
so she crashed at my house for a while - till 11plus - then we headed towards bukit batok's Pizza Hut.
now this is where the fun begins.

now, we shall start with closely looking at the above receipt. note the prices that are pointed to. these were the prices that started the freak-out between me and wan zhen (OK, so it's mostly me). ok, maybe for the benfit for those who find the print very squinty, the Balance Due stated is exactly $22.98.
so initially, i happily ordered a lasagna and a root beer, uncertain what lies ahead in the...
BILL.
so as the lasagne came, wan zhen offered hers to me (cause we both ordered the dish) and i digged in. later, the bill came and we were mightily shocked by the price stated:
$22.98!!!
that's a mightily lot to pay to. gosh. then suddenly, in a moment of panic, we dug our pockets for money and discovered we are so short for a dollar. *screams* then we thought of ways and means to raise the money to pay Pizza Hut. the first thought was Wan Zhen going home to get more money, then i told her it was too time-wasting to do so. the second one was begging the other customers for loose change (which i doubt they would spare). the third one was pleading them to lower the price of the bill (which is impossible in Singapore to do so) -which was totally my idea. dumb, right? so we thought why not ask a friend that is residing nearby westmall to hellp us foot the bill? which was of course, quite another useless one because i could think of anyone. SHIT. we were at our wits' end.
suddenly, a idea popped into my mind. who was the next person i could get to?
duh. of course it's my brother.
so i made the call and it was successful.
he'll be on his way.
during that period, i swore the next table was maybe gloating at our misery or whatever, but maybe they weren't. i was just being to sensitive over the issue anyway.
so it was only when we decided to re-calculate the amount we had with us, there was another shock:
we actually had enough money.
fuck.
$13.80 + $9.40 = $23.20 right?
i calculated as $13 + $9 = $21.
see what a wave of panic can do to me?
no wonder we did not have enough money.
all thanks to me.
the big maths genius, NOT.
so this experience shows i can never venture out to work as a cashier or something. cause if i ever take up such a job, i bet i can turn a $5 set meal to a $6.50 one - without proper calculations, that is.
i am SUCH a rip off.
after this, i need to take a load off and laugh till my tummy ache.
literally.
DOH!
*cringes*
show me the meaning of being broke,
