some of my friends may not know it, but i really do respect those hearing, visually or handicapped people. in my eyes, they are the most courageous people and i highly respect them more than anyone else.
it's just so pitiful that they do not get to live the life we get to. just like how i encountered a man which was walking past the bus stop. he was limping and walking at the same time, having difficulties walking faster or at the same speed with any other normal people like us. it does make sense when we are given a second thought before saying, "i'm so sick of life that i prefer to be dead" because somewhere, somehow, there is someone which is handicapped that looks up on us, and just wish they could be in our place instead.
so, why wear away life when you are lucky to lead a normal one?
in fact, i don't see why it's so funny seeing them in this condition.
what if you were in their shoes?
would you learn to appreciate them more?
because i think some people just gloat at others misery without thinking.
and i am so not being sarcastic right now.
while channel-flipping, i stumbled upon Nickelodeon's The Brothers Garcia. and such a luck, it featured Tammy, a girl who was hearing impaired and a new student in the school. having nasty classmates is bad enough to handle, but when her ear-aids was running low of batteries, it made a sharp whistling noise which caught the attention of one really cocky classmate of hers. the whistling noise was then made a joke in the class, and to make things worse, the student buddy she was assigned to (and was then her best friend) made fun of the whistling noise and said it was some sort of dog whistle. getting into the fun, he led the class in some wolf cries which caused a mighty uproar. Tammy, later adjusting her ear-aids, found the class wolf crying. puzzled, she asked the cocky student and she replied, they laughing at you, silly. and it turned out that it was started by the student buddy! gosh.
slightly embarrassed, but with some courage in her, she left the class in a huff, leaving the class bursting in laughter. regreting what he done, he rushed out to apologize to Tammy, but she was already fumming.
so his mum knew about it, and suggested for him to try being Tammy for a day, and experience how is it like being in her shoes. of course, he did what his mum told him and filled his ears with earplugs the next day, only to find it difficult to move about in the school or even lip-read the teacher when she is talking - due to the constant covering of her mouth. later in the lesson, he was demanded to remove the earplugs and was relieved to let sound fill his ears - it was practically music.
so from this episode: we can learn never to make fun of people for what they are, but instead, appreciate them for who and what they are. not looking down at people that are deprived from certain things in life.
gosh. how i feel better getting it off my chest and sharing it to others.
i really needed it.
i am so going to do this again. XD
